Phil Hart
Phil Hart is managing director of MEP Ltd, a specialist manufacturer of complex plastic and metal parts mainly for the aviation and defence industries. The company was started up in 1972 by Phil's father who ran it from his garage. Since then, MEP has gone from strength to strength and now employs 50 people at its headquarters in Aylesford, near Maidstone.
MEP focuses on increasing their customers business performance and competitive edge, helping to reduce the time and cost to manufacture parts by using their extensive in-house CNC and moulding facilities, to tight time scales within an EN9100 environment. The company has won numerous awards and has built a reputation for producing high quality aviation and associated parts which are used in the manufacture of aircraft such as Boeing and Airbus.
Phil has been at MEP's helm for some nine years when he took over from his father. Before starting work, he spent a year travelling around Australia, looking for career inspiration. Motivated by the idea of making something tangible, he returned to the UK and began studying Production Engineering at West Kent College and working at MEP. A few years later, thanks to his wife's support, Phil went back to full-time education to study for a BEng. (hons) in Polymer Engineering.
When he's not working, Phil enjoys spending time with his family - he is married with two boys - and messing about in cars and on motorbikes, enjoying track days whenever he can.
